Animal Lovers Unite to Share Communication Skills
The Sabre Holdings Corporate Communications team members in Southlake, Texas selected a cause near and dear to our personal hearts – animals. We are small, but mighty, and decided to offer the most bang for the buck for the four of us to contribute to the Humane Society of North Texas, located in Fort Worth.
“HSNT is passionate about helping animals in need. Our mission is to act as an advocate on behalf of all animals and to ensure their legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. We provide for the well-being of animals who are abandoned, injured, mistreated or otherwise in need. We promote an appreciation of animals and seek to instill respect for all living creatures.”
As communications professionals, we wanted to leverage our expertise by learning about, and consulting on, Humane Society’s communications. We reviewed their brochures, messaging, advertising and overall strategy. Together with the organization’s leaders and board president, we were able to collaborate a number of initiatives. We are most excited about taking our visit to the next level – to offer the organization’s first-ever corporate adoption effort at the Southlake campus on June 2.
Although we enjoyed the high-energy session of collaboration with the Humane Society, we’d all agree that our favorite part of the afternoon was getting to walk the dogs. As stated by one of the attendees:
“I was so proud to see our team engaged today, not only sharing the emotion that comes from an event like this (and with adorable, needy animals no less) but also, sharing the opportunity to combine our expertise for the good of a worthy organization. I think what I loved most was seeing just how complementary our thinking was…how we all were feeding off of one another, and the sheer excitement of engaging our abilities outside of work. But to see how we were able to really help…to kind of “wow” the folks at the Humane Society by doing what comes pretty naturally to all of us…THAT was cool. And rewarding. And it just felt good.”

Too many people spend too much time talking about how they wish they could do something to help the animals. The Sabre team in Southlake definitely didn’t stop there! They went on to not only do a great fund-raiser for the animals at the Humane Society of North Texas, but also made it a huge FUN-raiser for HSNT’s staff and volunteers when they hosted the onsite adoption event! HSNT is so excited about the possibilities in the future thanks to this great lifesaving connection.
