Helping “La Casa del Niño”

Tomorrow, September 29th the Argentine Sabre Team is going to “La Casa del Niño”.

“La Casa del Niño” (the child house) is a 20 year old institution that works as a day care center for children of the neighborhood. The neighborhood of “La Casa del Niño” is truly poor and dangerous for children to be on the streets.

“La Casa del Nino” offers the children a place to stay before or after school. They have teachers and psychologists that help them improve their education so they can be better at school.

Painting at the Juvenile Protective Association, Chicago

Give Time Together? What could we do?
The Chicago bunch built up a crew
It’s time to give back
So we all got on track
We’d help someplace feel like new!

tms - Repairing a wood cantilever roof slap on a building playground.

On September 26, 2006, members of tms repaired a wood cantilever roof slap on a building playground.

Years ago, Leverkusen had three of those building playgrounds, but in the years 1993 and 1998 two of them were closed. Thanks to the support of a parents initiative and the employment of young civil-service people, the playground in Leverkusen-Rheindorf still exists. The materials, the children work with, is mostly sponsored by various companies of the region.

Rango de Jesus

On September 15th, 2006, we went to the Church Bom Jesus dos Passos to prepare a delicious dinner for the homeless – the project is called Rango de Jesus (literally Jesus´s Dinner) and it is been delivered to these people for 16 years. In the beginning, they served snacks every Friday night and on Saturdays at lunch, but fortunately the project has grown and now, with the help of volunteers like us, complete meals are served.

Hamburg: Renewing playground at Kindergarten (KITA Sasel)

At the 28th of September a group of 11 “strong” Sabre employees went to help the Kindergarten Sasel to renew their main playground area called “Adventure Hill”. We cleaned up the place and planted new bushes and flower together with the kids.

As we arrived the kids sang the song “Wer will fleißige Handwerker sehen…” (Who like to see ambitous craftsmen..) and it was lots of fun to move 8 (!) tons of earth on the hill. Quiet challenging was finding the right planting strategy and combination of plants. The Kindergarten fed us with self made cookies and a rich “Gulasch” soup at the end of the day.

Participants:

Thomas Schmidt, Pathiban Thomas, Achim Tschauder, Kay Rahn, Peter Herich, Karsten Martin, Carsten Elshoff, Kristian Dunker, Eugen Fischer, Wolfgang Pasche, Achim Stolten

Las Villas de los Chiquiticos- Venezuela, 22 Sept. 2006

The BEST pictureThe team at the officeSabre Venezuela arriving Las Villas de los ChiquiticosJetzabel with a little one

The Venezuelan Team has accomplished the Give Together Program..!!

As we published in past days we visited “Las Villas de los Chiquiticos”, a shelter home for abandoned children with ages between 0months old till 7 years of age. The Sabre Venezuela Team concentrated this activity with 26 “little ones” with ages between 2 and 4 years of age.

Our experience was incredible..!! The 20 Sabre employees arrived at 830am and we were invited to go in the village, the Coordinator of Nursery School (Karen Melendez) gave us a warm welcome pointing out the rules of the house, one of them was no video or pictures of the kids alone…but we arranged to get a lot of pictures and little moments of camera.
