September 21st is the beginning of the springtime in Buenos Aires. What better way to celebrate the beginning of the nicest season of the year than spending time whit children that need a lot of care and affection.hot dogs Flores preparation busThis year we went back to La Casa del Niño. We have been there last year for the Give Time Together activity too. La Casa del Niño work as a day care center for children from 3 to 13 years old. At La Casa del Niño the children receive help with their school homework, 2 meals a day, medical assistance and a safe place to stay during the day.During the previous weeks to the visit to La Casa del Niño almost all the Argentina team was devoted to get all the things we needed in order to comply with our objectives for that day. We received a lot of donations and the employees sold brownies, cupcakes, hot dogs and sandwiches in order to raise money to buy supplies for the children. One of the most important things to highlight is how everybody was committed to this event and that a lot of the employees are willing to continue working with other proyects for La Casa del Niño without waiting for the next years Give Time Together campaign.Check out our video of our Give Time Together day!!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4eo4Ggf_DA Read more »

Visiting La Casa del Niño 2007 - Argentina

We are visiting La Casa del Niño again!!!

We are very happy that we are going to help the children of La Casa del Niño this year. We thought that it is very important to make a new visit to see how things are going and keep helping this organization.

We went last week to talk to the principal and trying to understand their needs for this year. She mentioned us that they are needing a lot of supplies for school, for personal hygiene, as well as educational board games.

We are planning on doing different activities this time….

One group is going to be in charge of repairing the PCs that are not working properly. Another group is going to be doing games for the kids in the playground with prices and candies. There is another group that is going to be refurbishing the games that are in the playground.

Other groups of employees are going to be in charge of gathering the donations and preparing the logistics for that day. Another group is going to be doing a funds raising event so we can buy more stuff for them.

Well have more news in the next weeks….

Everyone has something to give in Buenos Aires

Everyone has something to give was the slogan that represented us during the Global Volunteer Week.During the preparations for the visit to the Casa del Niño the previous weeks, we could realize that we all had something to give, whether it was drawing, fixing computers, entertaining the children or arranging books and games.Last Friday we went to the to do the activity we had planned. We were all excited but nervous too, because we didn’t know how they would react to our visit. We had the great challenge of entertaining about 300 children between 3 and 13 years old.Fortunately, everything went as expected or even better!! The kids welcomed us with open arms and more needy of affection rather than material goods. The employees were divided into 3 groups and thus we could reach our objectives; which were to built a reading room with a library, a video library and games; to put 5 pc’s into operation and to entertain the children during our stay.Something I don’t want to forget is that all of us, Sabre employees, left there hoping to return.

Helping “La Casa del Niño”

Tomorrow, September 29th the Argentine Sabre Team is going to “La Casa del Niño”.

“La Casa del Niño” (the child house) is a 20 year old institution that works as a day care center for children of the neighborhood. The neighborhood of “La Casa del Niño” is truly poor and dangerous for children to be on the streets.

“La Casa del Nino” offers the children a place to stay before or after school. They have teachers and psychologists that help them improve their education so they can be better at school.
