DIY- Using Sabre Skills to Help Others

Student "Smiling Sam"

Student "Smiling Sam"

The Central Dallas Ministry Work Paths program focuses on pre-employment education and training (primarily in the construction industry) for low-income individuals who may not have the skills to be self-sufficient in an occupation.  It also supports those who, for various reasons, are in a position of transition; sometimes from being homeless or even from serving some prison time. The program offers a 12-week course to low-income workers to get them ready to take the next steps toward a career so they can support their families.   Read more »

Sabre Inc. Pacific Northwest helps Feed Families with Northwest Harvest

Sabre employees in the Pacific Northwest came together to support Northwest Harvest, a Washington State based food bank that feeds anyone in need.  (www.northwestharvest.org)   Travel Network, Airline Solutions, and Travelocity were all represented; with many employees meeting each other for the first time.  One person flew down from Anchorage Alaska, one flew in from Spokane and one drove up from Portland, Oregon to join the western Washington based staff and 1 customer from Costco Wholesale Corp.  We packaged over 3000 pounds of rice and 300 pounds of bread to feed needy and hungry families throughout the state.  Northwest Harvest is not government funded so they can help anyone that asks for help.  And, during this challenging economic time, they need more support than ever!
We’re not sure any of us would want to see another kernal of rice again, but we are sure that the over 2,000 families that will benefit from our support will be happy to have it!
This was a great event to pull employees together in a common city for the greater good.  It was great to meet our colleagues and to have a good time together, doing a very good thing

Chicago Area Sabre employees volunteer at St. James Farm

A pan-Sabre group of folks gathered in Wheaton, IL to volunteer at St. James Farm, property part of the Forest Preserve District of Dupage County. The group continues to enjoy outdoors work and this year all hands were on deck to make the area look great for an upcoming gala event at the Farm.

The property used to be private and the owner allowed the area to be sold to the Forest Preserve District at an incredible deal. That was several years ago and it has taken some work to get the property ready to be open to the public. On May 23, St. James Farm will host thousands of people for a horse show, so the farm was in great need of a little extra TLC so that it could open to the public for this special event looking its best! Boston’s 2009 Give Time Together

The Synxis Boston Group along with two fellow Sabre employees, volunteered for a day at the Pine Street Inn for our Give Time Together Event on Thursday May 7th, 2009. Our team was divided into two groups.  One group worked in the kitchen, slicing and dicing vegetables, making sandwiches and preparing meals to be served and delivered to 12 other shelters. The second group worked on a cleaning facilities project. It was an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience. We are already looking forward to volunteering here again. Read more »
